New Links & Online Newsletter

We've added a number of new links to some fun and informational websites that you may not have been aware of. We invite you to check out the Web Links category near the bottom of the side-bar.

It is now official friends. After discussing this with Pastor Steve and some member of the congregation at Southern Hills Church we've decided to change this "Unofficial Blog" into the Online Newsletter for Southern Hills Church. This will not replace any of the current means of communication. Paper newsletters will still be mailed out, mass emails will occasionally be sent out from the church office, other mailings will still be done for important events. This website is simply an attempt to give everyone an additional way to receive new information and to review old information. Every information post that this made on this website will be available in the archives. This includes pictures, sound files, and videos that may be exclusive to this website.

If you wish to receive email notifications on the days when new articles are published to this site please enter your email address in the "Receive New Post Updates via Email" section at the top of the sidebar. You will then receive an email asking you to confirm your request for email confirmation. Once you click on the link provided in that first email you receive you will be all set. Each day that a new article is published you will receive an email. And don't worry, if there are twenty articles published in one day you will still receive only one email notification.

Also, if there is information that you feel the congregation should be aware of please let me know. We will review the information and, after we're sure everything is in order, we'll publish your announcement or information. The types of things we are looking to be included are exciting updates concerning your Ministry Team, upcoming classes being offered, upcoming activities planned, needs that the congregation can help with, etc. Basically anything that might normally go out in the Newsletter, a mass church mailing on paper or email, or an announcement that would normally be made in front of the congregation would be great to have on this website. Also, if you have pictures of activities that you would like to share please send us those, as well.

Some things to keep in mind when sending us information to post are as follows. Please do not send us pictures of kids under the age of eighteen to pace on the blog. We really need parents' written consent to include any pictures of our youth. You'll note that the article on VBS included pictures of the set and not the children who participated. Also, if you have special announcements that involve other people, especially requests for help or special prayer requests, please insure that the person(s) involved are aware of your intentions and have given you approval. It would be nice if the person(s) involved could even send the request to us directly, or could send an email to me giving me their approval.

This is an exciting time for our church and I'm looking forward to all the wonderful ways an increased Internet presence will help us grow, inward and outward.
