Miracle Weekend in Review - Part 1

Well, Miracle Weekend is now more than two weeks behind us. This was an incredible experience for so many people in our church and community. More importantly this was an incredible experience for the church itself. This weekend gave us a glimpse of the opportunities for reaching out to the community that are available to us through our new outreach center.

All of you should deserve and have our gratitude for the pulling together and helping make this weekend such a wonderful success. I received feedback personally on a number of aspects from the weekend. Many people had positive comments on the concerts and music throughout the weekend. Special thanks were mentioned by many people for Steve and Vonnie Mossberg and Trevor Jackson. If you looked closely you might have discovered some well concealed cots where these individuals slept over the weekend to insure that they were there to help make this weekend a success. All joking aside, these three deserve a lot of credit for the time and effort they put in before and during this weekend. Another individual that deserves a great deal of credit is Wayne Abels. He put in a lot of work to insure that the kids events, among others, went of without a hitch. The above individuals make up the Events Team that spearheaded Miracle Weekend. Please express your gratitude to them in person when you see them.

I also received an email of thanks from Steve Mossberg, which I will include below.

Our Miracle Weekend was a Great success! The music was a success because of the efforts of Trevor Jackson! Trevor, among other things, arranged for the sound system, contacted Angel Dean (who appeared at no charge), and was the brains behind the ease of setup and tear down for the six praise bands. It would have been a very different, and less quality event, without his efforts!

A big thanks to all who helped set up for our Miracle Weekend. Trevor and Laurie Jackson, Vonnie Mossberg, Mike Colwill, Steve Ziebarth, and Wayne Ables spent parts of Thursday and Friday setting up and ironing out the final details for the event.

Also a big thanks to the guys at Fink Electric who were setting overhead lights up until 4 PM Friday. Their flexibility and willingness to go out of their way was a big help!

Thanks to Wayne Ables for arranging for Phil Baker to come and entertain the kids. And for arranging for and hauling the jump house and popcorn machine (all three were big successes...ask the kids!).

A big thanks to Jorjann Blake for all the time and effort in setting up the prayer room for our event.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered! We were over-planned and over-staffed, which was a VERY good thing. - Steve Mossberg.

If you received the church newsletter in the mail you may have noticed Pastor Steve's entry. I would like to include that here, as well.

Dear Friends,

I believe we all owe a debt of gratitude to those who worked so incredibly hard on the Miracle Weekend. It was an amazing weekend for our church and for those community friends who attended. The weekend included something for everyone, from the smallest of children to mature adults. It was great fun and meaningful for all who participated. Thank you to the "Dream Team" for your hard work, but special thanks goes out to Steve and Vonnie Mossberg, Trevor Jackson, Wayne Abels, and Mike Colwill. These people served on the "Events Team," a sub-committee of the "Dream Team," which planned and executed the weekend with efficiency and class. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

It's truly a miracle when you can have a schedule of events that includes eight different groups performing in one day - and every group was on stage at the right time, with the proper equipment, the appropriate lighting, and great sound. It was great work for a bunch of amateurs trying to do everything in their power to bring honor and glory to God.

It's also a miracle when a congregation can move from the vision of a much-needed Outreach Center to hosting a wonderful event that shows us the incredible possibilities for that space. Let's work together to utilize the new Outreach Center for God's work in this corner of the world. I am truly honored to be in ministry with all of you!

In love, Steve

In the near future I will be including a number of pictures and videos from events throughout the weekend. There were some wonderful pictures taken over the course of the weekend. If you would like to add to our collection and give us the opportunity to share you picture(s) with our church and friends of the church please email the pictures directly to me at kanteker@gmail.com. I would love to see and use them at the church or on this newsletter site.

I will leave you with a video of some of the events that took place Friday Night during Miracle Weekend. If you'll remember those events included the free barbecue and the concert by Celia Whitler. The video us under five minutes. I hope you enjoy it.

- Mike Colwill

P.S. Steve's sermon from Sunday morning will be posted as soon as I get the chance. I'm having trouble uploading the file to my audio hosting site as their server is down at the moment. Please look forward to that in the next day or two. Thanks for your patience.
